Isla was born on the 17 May 2011 at our local hospital in Broken Hill, to Broken Hill Speedboat Club (BHSBC) members Matt (former Copi kid) and Alison Bromson.
\nIsla\u2019s comes from a long line of BHSBC members her grandparents also BHSBC members Trevor and Anne Bird (aka Nan and Poppy Chook), Max Bromson (poppy Max) and Cathy Banner and Keneatha and Bill Pick.
\nFor those of you who like the stats, Isla was born by Caesarean, weighed in at 3.32kg (7lb, 5oz for us oldies), she was 50cm long and has the most adorable blue eyes, Isla doesn’t have much hair and I\u2019m told she gets this from the Bromson\u2019s side of the family (especially Poppy Max).
\nI asked Alison if I could have a family photo and Alison sent me the one below with a message that read \u201cThe family photo is below is one of Matt and I in theatre just after Isla was born. It shows me looking a bit dazed and confused and proving that Matt felt no pain whatsoever\u201d.
\nIsla is a very lucky little girl, she has a big brother 4 year old Harper to watch out for her. Harper adores his little sister and has done since her birth, you see Harper had decided that the baby in mummy\u2019s tummy was going to be a girl and when she was finally born he delighted in telling everyone that he was right.<\/p>\n

Harper was so excited that he introduced his newborn sister in the corridor of the hospital to anyone who would stand still long enough to listen.
\nA week after arriving home from hospital with Isla, Alison went to pick Harper up from preschool. \u00a0He was sitting on the teacher’s lap crying, with an ice pack on his shoulder because he’d had a fall in the playground. \u00a0After a couple of visits to the hospital and an x-ray later, a broken collarbone was confirmed. \u00a0A newborn baby and a very active 4 year old with a broken collarbone was all they needed!
\nAfter about 5 weeks in a sling, everything healed nicely and Harper is back playing footy and doing gymnastics and looking forward to summer so he can have another try at knee boarding and maybe even skiing, he can\u2019t wait to get the boat out this summer so that his new sister can go for a ride in \u201cMad Max\u201d.
\nSo far Isla has been a dream baby, sleeping well, eating well and is a generally a happy and contented little bub.
\nThe committee and members of the Broken Hill Speedboat Club would like to congratulate Matt, Alison, Harper and the grandparents on such an adorable little addition to your family.
