Carolyn King (Broken Hill Speedboat Club Member), daughter of Barry King (Broken Hill Speedboat Club Secretary) and Cathy King (Broken Hill Speedboat Club member and secretary\u2019s lackey) married Dale Chicken son of Lindsay & Lynne Chicken (from Mumdubberra Qld) at Sacred Heart Cathedral on Friday 30th March 2012.
\nCarolyn looked stunning in her strapless white Maggie Sorrento wedding gown. The gown was belted at the waist, the belt was in a mocha color with the large flower on the left side of the dress which was adorned with a large diamante. The dress was covered in smaller clusters of flowers and small diamantes’ covered the entire dress. Carolyn dress included a long train and long vale. Carolyn carried a bunch of lovely pink and cream long stemmed roses with Lisianthus flowers and green berry\u2019s. The flowers were made by Wild Bunch.
\nCarolyn\u2019s Matron of Honor, Jane Daley (Nee Schmidt, Broken Hill Speedboat Club Member who resides in Dubbo) and Bridesmaids Rachael Hotchin (from Waka Station near Cameron’s Corner) and Angela Whiting (from Wagga Wagga) were dressed in equally lovely long strapless gowns of cobalt blue which gathered in the front and was brought together by a silver glittering broach. The girls carried similar flower bouquets as the bride.
\nThe groom wore a 3 piece suit of charcoal grey, with a cream coloured tie and cream rose on his jacket.
\nThe best man James Cochrane (from Gympie Qld), and groomsmen Gus Davies (From Blackall Qld) and Boyd Paton (from Mumdubbera Qld) looked very smart in 3 piece suits of charcoal grey with a charcoal grey tie and pink rose pinned on the jacket.
\nThe weeding car was a hummer which seemed like a good idea at the time but when it came to the Bride getting into the hummer it was obvious that the Hummer was proving to be a little difficult to get into. The Groom came to the rescue and lifted his new Bride and swung her around in a sweeping gesture and placed her securely into the vehicle \u201cAwwwwww\u201d.
\nAfter the reception a photo shoot was taken by friends of Carolyn\u2019s who she worked with at Davenport Downs Station, Casey Williams and Amy Steer. Photo\u2019s were taken at the Stuart Park, the Creek on the sculptures road and at the old grand stand at the racecourse.
\nThe reception was held at the Gary Radford Pavilion at the racecourse with approximately 150 people attending the wedding. The pavilion looked stunning draped in white with the tables glittering with diamantes from the warm white light balls which were hanging over the tables.
\nThere were a large number of Broken Hill Speedboat Club members at the wedding including grandparents Colleen and Bill Brady.
\nWhen we usually say that people travelled long distances to attend an event, its rarely this far but in this case some of the guests travelled distances a lot further then most would. Some of the guests travelled fromCanada and the USA, others travelled from Victoria, South Australia ,Australian Capital Territory, Queensland and New South Wales other guests travelled from many outlaying properties around the district.
\nThe reception was catered by Holden\u2019s Catering Service (headed up by Ken Holden also a member of the Broken Hill Speedboat Club) and I\u2019m told the meal was fabulous!
\nThe band \u201cPlan B\u201d with Greg Hayes (Broken Hill Speedboat Club member) played music into the wee hours and the wedding party and guests partied the night away. From what I am told everyone had a great time.
\nThe only real hiccup with the reception was when the best man James split his pants while showing off his dance moves, he then spent the night walking around like a penguin and lucky for him, he was wearing underwear.
\nJamie and Sue Liddell and Peter and Allison Garrick (all members of the Broken Hill Speedboat Club) provided the bar service for the night.
\nThe Bride, Groom and families would like to thank all the people who helped out with the wedding!
\nA bit of background:
\nDale and Carolyn live and work as assistant manager \/ secretary at Isa Downs Station located between Blackall and Longreach in Old.
\nDales parents live on a farm growing pecan nuts, cattle and sheep just outside Mumdubberra.
\nThe newly weds are spending Easter Weekend at Copi Hollow with family and friends.
